Ambetto
What is Ambetto?
Ambetto is a side game linked to the Italian Lotto, first introduced with draw no. 107 on September 5, 2013. To play Ambetto, you must choose a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 numbers between 1 and 90, and select one or more wheels (draw locations) on which to place your bet. The cost of a ticket ranges from €0.05 to a maximum of €200.
How to Win with Ambetto
To take part in Ambetto, at least two numbers must be played. You win if one of the numbers you chose is drawn together with the number immediately before or after another number you selected (or any of the other selected numbers, if more than two were played). If one of the chosen numbers is 1, its adjacent numbers are considered to be 90 (preceding) and 2 (following). If one of the chosen numbers is 90, its adjacent numbers are 89 (preceding) and 1 (following). In addition, the adjacent number (preceding or following) must not be among the numbers originally chosen by the player.
Examples of winning combinations with Ambetto
Simple Ambetto Bet with Two Non-Consecutive Numbers
On September 5, 2013, draw no. 107 (the first draw in which Ambetto could be played), the numbers drawn on the Bari wheel were: 9, 5, 65, 44, 10. Suppose that for this draw you placed a €1 Ambetto bet on the Bari wheel, choosing the numbers 5 and 64.
- The possible Ambetto combinations generated by playing 5 and 64 are four:
-
- 5 - 63
- 5 - 65
- 64 - 4
- 64 - 6
- In this case, an Ambetto would have been won with the combination 5 – 65.
Simple Ambetto Bet with Two Consecutive Numbers
On September 7, 2013, draw no. 108, the numbers drawn on the Bari wheel were: 33, 26, 57, 24, 80. Suppose this time you placed a €1 Ambetto bet on the Bari wheel, choosing the consecutive numbers 24 and 25.
- The possible combinations in this case are two:
-
- 24 - 26
- 25 - 23
- The combinations 24 – 25 and 25 – 24 are not allowed under the game rules.
Simple Ambetto Bet with Two Numbers Two Apart
On October 10, 2013, draw no. 122, the numbers drawn on the Bari wheel were: 24, 85, 84, 87, 75. Suppose you placed a €1 Ambetto bet on the Bari wheel, choosing the numbers 85 and 87.
- The possible combinations in this case are four:
-
- 85 - 86
- 85 - 88
- 87 - 84
- 87 - 86
- By playing 85 and 87 on the Bari wheel, you would have won two Ambetti: 85 – 88 and 87 – 84.
Winnings for Ambetto
The payout multiplier for an Ambetto win is 260 times the stake. The total winnings are then divided by the number of combinations generated by the numbers played.
However, when consecutive numbers are chosen, some combinations are not valid. This reduces the number of possible combinations and therefore increases the payout multiplier (and the prize amount).
The betting slip shows all the combinations generated when up to four numbers are played.
